Before I start let me say this:
- NEVER........EVER...........EVER.....no matter how drunk you may be.........attempt eating a DEEP FRIED MARS BAR. The Scots may have invented the world, but they single handedly undid all that hard work by attemptng to deep fry chocolate. Especially when its done in the same oil you deep fry fish in!!
Ello Ello Ello!
Its only been 7 weeks but I figured I should probably give you all an update on what craziness we have been up to since Jane and I arrived in London. Actually, I will let Jane do the talking as she has already written the mammoth email. I shall just provide the purty pictures. I will try and comment all the pics soon so you know what you are looking at.

Some of you may have heard I landed a job at Double Negative, but after 3 weeks I packed it in again. By doing so I threw away the chance to work on the next batman flick which some of you may know I was dying to work on. However being at Dneg just wasnt right for me at the moment. They are a great company, but for now I want to refocus my energy on more creative work again, not just glorified number crunching, sitting waiting 5 hours a day for simulations to finish.....
So for now, I'm unemployed, and just quietly, its F"*$kin brilliant.
Below is Janes huge email with all the details of what we have been doing. I hope everything is ace back in the land of OZ.
take care,
Sandy.
Hi everyone,
Well it's been a while since I last updated you on life on the other side (of the world that is!) Things have changed since I last wrote to some of you. Sandy and I are both unemployed, by choice and looking for other jobs. And Sandy's brother, Gav is staying with us at the moment cos he came over to work at a Golf Club in a tiny town north of London and hated it!!). I only lasted 4 days in my role as F&B Supervisor at Hilton Tower Bridge because the other supervisor was the biggest whinger and I couldn't be bothered dealing with that as well as getting up at 430am and also feeling a little homesick! Plus the job was more than I wanted to take on. The team had the lowest morale I think I have ever seen and I just don't have the energy to deal with that right now. Sandy also quit, after 3 weeks because he wants to have the chance to be more creative which wasn't going to happen. He has other opportunities though and so do I, so don't worry!!
We also went on an 8day road trip through Scotland. We being myself, Sandy and Gavin. It was certainly eye-opening for me to spend that much time with 2 boys cos we all know I'm a bit of a girly girl!!! ;o) We had a really great time and saw lots of Scotland! It is really a beautiful country, especially the northern highlands! I definitely recommend everyone go and visit sometime in the future.
We hired a car in Cambridge because we didn't want to have to drive through or out of London as the traffic is just too crazy there. We picked the car up at 10am on tuesday 26th July and had big plans of driving all the way up to Dunbar (just east of Edinburgh) in about 6 hours to stay at family friends of Sandy and Gav. Unfortunately, due to the horrendous flooding in the centre of the UK, it took us 12 hours to do that drive, after taking many detours, which had one sign and then no other signs to follow up and tell us where to go when that road ended!!! It was certainly an interesting way to see different parts of the countryside! ;o)

<div\> </div\>
<div\>In our 8days, we managed to see Edinburgh (or at least the important parts), St Andrews (cos Gav is a keen golfer), Pitlochery (a really cute little town where I could live!), Brora (up on the east coast), Tongue (north coast), Kinlochbervie (West Coast), the Isle of Skye and then back to Dunbar and then Durham on the way through to Cambridge. We covered nearly 1800miles (Gav doing all of those bar about 5minutes when I attempted to learn Manual!!!) and listened to lots of music, the boys quoted many of their favourite movies, including Borat and Snatch until I couldn't handle it anymore. We also took lots of photos, both beautiful (scenery) and funny (the boys in silly hats, and Gav eating and driving etc!) We avoided Glasgow cos the airport bombing while we were somewhere in Scotland and we didn't want to have to deal with all the congestion and extra security!
</div\>
<div\> </div\>
<div\>And of course we visited lots of historic monuments. We saw Tantallon Castle, Edinburgh Castle, St Andrews Castle and Cathedral, Dunrobin Castle, Crask Inn, some Castle near Tongue, one near the Isle of Skye, the William Wallace Monument, Stirlng Castle and probably others that I can't remember!!! We went to the smallest (legal) distillery in Scotland, Edradour and then skipped all the other more famous one's cos none of us actually likes Whisky!! It got to the point I think, where we would see the sign for another famous castle of distillery and just groan cos while they are all different and amazing, there are just so many!!! We did get to see some amazing Falconry at Dunrobin Castle and the boys went Clay Shooting in Aviemore while I relaxed and read my book.
</div\>
<div\> </div\>
<div\>We all managed to put on weight while we were away and have since been focussing on healthy meals! The boys both really got into the Traditional Scottish Cuisine, haggis, black pudding and of course <em\>Deep Fried Mars Bars
</em\>!!! Yes, that's right, as if they are not bad enough!!! In Scotland, they deep fry them in batter!!! Both Sandy and Gav had one bite and were totally and completely disgusted!! I enjoyed the yummier shortbreads and fudges that were available. ;o) We were quite good at not drinking too much for most of the trip, however it was Sandy's 25th birthday on Sun 1st July, so on the Sat before, we all had a few too many drinks while we played Pool and Darts. I discovered I'm ok at the 500 game in Darts but if I actually have to aim at a particular number, it's just no good!!!
",1]

<div\> </div\>
<div\>So I think it's safe to say that life is treating us rather well at the moment. Sandy and I will certainly be trying to get work asap but at the moment we are just enjoying our time off and trying not to spend too much money. We did go to Harrods the other day and buy some pretty amazing pastries but they were surprisingly well-priced!! WE have also booked tickets to see the Red Bull Air Racing at the end of the month, which is crazy men flying jets round tight corners and really really fast!!! Can't wait!!!
</div\>
<div\> </div\>
<div\>Look forward to hearing from you all soon, I'll let you know when Sandy finally puts some photos up from Dubai and Scotland!! </div\>
<div\> </div\>
<div\>Love Jane</div\>
",0]
