I had my mind blown today...

Today Jane and I went to the Tate Modern to see the exhibition Dali+Film.
It was a collection of his paintings and short films, including work he did with Hitchcock on the film Spellbound.

I wont pretend I understand all the symbolism in his paintings, but I am always blown away by anyone who obviously can perceive the world around them in such a non-literal way, and then externalise it so vividly.

I also got to see a short film he worked on with Disney, called Destino. It was never completed until 2003 after their deaths, but it was still very cool. reminded me alot of Terry Gilliams monty python clips crossed with Fantasia.

you can see bits of it here:

Also at the Tate was a small exhibition on Cities around the world an their increasing impact on the planet. It was all pretty heavy on statistics but was presented via amazing photographs and video walls.

here are some stats that really freaked me out:

50% of the worlds population now live in Cities.

London has only expaned by 10% in the last 100 years. Sau Paulo in Brazil has expanded around 7,400% in the last 100 years.

only 7% of people in Los Angeles use public transport compared to 78% in Tokyo.

Water is more expensive in Mexico city, per litre, than Petrol is.
